About the Artist:
Brooke Ligertwood (Fraser) is a singer/songwriter from New Zealand. This Christian Contemporary and Pop singer also plays piano and guitar. The talented artist began taking piano lessons at age 7, started writing songs at age 12, and taught herself guitar at age 15. Also, at 15 years old, Brooke began writing for the Soul Purpose magazine, and by the time she turned 18 years old, she became the editor (2002). Later that year, she left the magazine to pursue her music career and signed a multi-album deal with Sony Music.
About the Album:
Eight was Brookes first studio album in nine years. It was released on October 20, 2023. Brooke described this album in an in Instagram post during its release, here is what it says:
“We made something we love with people we love for Someone we love… and for you.
It has been made and fashioned whilst our family has been navigating life amid a constellation of traumas – some of which continue, others of which we are still trying to catch our breath from.
All that to say, it’s a message from the middle. It’s weird here. But He’s still good here. And every word I get to declare in this collection has stood true, and getting to sit in these prayed lyrics during this process has been a balm to my rickety heart.
When it comes out next Friday, I pray it might be the same for some of you. As always, it’s an honour to serve you this way and I’ll never not be blown away at the privilege it is to do so…”
